EC Human Settlements MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe will hand over houses in Dimbaza

East London – Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Nonceba Kontsiwe, will hand over 50 houses to destitute families in Dimbaza, under Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) on 15 October 2021. The houses are part of the Dimbaza Polar Park Rectification Project which has already completed 50 houses in its first phase. The second phase is currently under construction for the next 50 houses which is set to be complete during this financial year. The elderly, disabled, child-headed households and military veterans are prioritized in this project by providing them with decent quality homes. One of the beneficiaries is a visually impaired 81-year-old Gelebha Mbikanye who was staying in a one roomed house with his wife and 59 year old son. The family is dependent on social grant. The department has budgeted R41.6 million for the rectification of 260 units in BCMM this financial year.
