Seasoned radio broadcaster celebrates a milestone.
GQEBERA – On the 19th of October, Siphiwo Magoda celebrates his 40 years in Broadcasting. In celebrating this historic milestone, Siphiwo Magoda will host key stakeholders on Saturday 29th October 2022, at the prestigious St John’s College in Mthatha. This event is to be broadcast via Live Streaming on Facebook and YouTube.
Siphiwo Magoda is the alumni of St John’s College in Mthatha in the generation of between 1976 and 1979. He climbed the News ladder at the former Transkei Broadcasting Corporation from being a News Reporter to Deputy Head of news. He worked himself up through an assortment of Journalism courses including IBSON Management at Rand Afrikaans University, Sociology of News at Rhodes University and Media Policy, Development and Practice at Wits University. Magoda did his internship training at the British Broadcasting Corporation in London. He was also trained in Change Management at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto and St John in Newfoundland. He was trained in studio designing and Management in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, and enriched himself in a number of valuable training courses in the Broadcasting field.

Currently the host of an award winning midnight show UMxholo kuMhlobo Wenene FM, Siphiwo Magoda joined the world of Media and Broadcasting on the 19th of October 1982 in the then Transkei Broadcasting Corporation, formerly known as Radio Transkei for 11 years (1982 – 1993) first as an operations controller, a Reporter and News Reader, Senior Reporter, News Editor and Deputy Head of News.
Magoda has worked for the SABC for 28 years in different Management areas including Head of Radio Training in Auckland Park and was moved to Gqebera to help in the integration of former Transkei and Ciskei Radios into SABC’s now formidable UWFM.
