As part of the build-up engagements for the upcoming visit by the Deputy President of the Country, Hon Paul Mashatile, the Mbhashe Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Samkelo Janda welcomed a delegation from the William & Mary University in the United States at the Municipal Offices in Dutywa.
The visiting delegation includes two research students who will be conducting a research on the oral history of the Battle of Lurwayizo, with a focus on how this valuable information can be preserved and archived. Their work will contribute to both the municipality’s historical record and the Battle of Lurwayizo Development initiative.
In his welcoming remarks, the Executive Mayor provided the visitors with an overview of the municipality, highlighting its rich heritage, vibrant communities, and the ongoing efforts to drive development through strategic partnerships.
Through this collaboration, the municipality aims to unlock opportunities in heritage tourism, cultural preservation, and community.
