Mbhashe Local Municipality officially introduced the contractor for Phase One of Willowvale Town Hall refurbishment project in Willowvale.
This project includes the following tasks :
*Structural Improvements – Assessing and repairing any structural issues to ensure the integrity of the building.
* Interior Renovations – Updating the hall’s interior design, including flooring, painting, stage curtains, electrical installation, air conditioners, internal and external plumbing, attend the floor, doors, changing ceiling and roof.
* Energy efficiency – replacing old heating and cooling systems and upgrading lighting to reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
During the session, Executive Mayor Cllr Samkelo Janda emphasised the importance of cooperation and open communication between contractors and the community. He also outlined the benefits of the project for both the municipality and community members and spoke out against the alarming crime levels in Willowvale, which could delay the development in this town.
The phase one of this project will create 6 job opportunities, which will help to stimulate local economic growth and skills development.
Furthermore, this project is expected to be completed within seven months. This development will also benefit the communities of Mbhashe LM by encouraging greater community engagement, supporting local arts, and fostering community pride. The refurbished hall will also attract external events, thereby boosting municipal revenue.
