Mayor Janda visited Willowvale Taxi Rank project

Executive Mayor Cllr Samkelo Janda continued his oversight visits to monitor progress on key infrastructure projects currently underway in Willowvale.

One of the key projects visited was phase one of the Willowvale Taxi Rank, where significant construction activities are in progress.

The contractor for this project was officially introduced on 25 April 2025 and is currently undertaking the following core tasks:

Clearing and grubbing
Construction of water reticulation systems
Installation of sewer reticulation infrastructure
Mass earthworks
Construction of a retaining wall
Block paving
Installation of a new septic tank
Construction of ablution facilities
Construction of a taxi shelter
Erection of fencing with gates and Eskom electricity connections
Installation of a nameboard
Compliance with all relevant Health & Safety and Environmental Management regulations
Additional external works

The project has already created 11 local job opportunities, contributing to the stimulation of the local economy and skills development.

The Willowvale Removal of Alien Vegetation Project, focuses on removing trees and bushes as part of the Community Services Department’s initiative to enhance local areas within Mbhashe LM.

So far, three big trees have been removed near the internal roads of Willowvale. The purpose of this initiative is to make Willowvale area safer, reduce the risk of fires, creating open spaces for parks, beautification and use the cleared tree debris for recreational or landscaping purposes.

Willowvale Landfill Site, aims to stimulate circular economy and promote safer environment in Mbhashe areas.

These visits form part of the municipality’s commitment to serve the needs of the Mbhashe LM communities, ensuring that projects are implemented effectively and meet quality standards.
